Prayer

Scripture & Application

  1. In 41, there is a large group of people escaping to Egypt in fear of Babylon.  In a sense, people rely on Egypt (their idol) in fear of another idol (Babylon).  What is your immediate escape in your times of distress?  What prevents you from immediately running to God instead of other thins of this world?
  2. In 42:3, people are asking for God’s instruction and direction.  What clarity are you seeking in your prayer life?  How is God giving you his clear instruction in your life?
  3. In God’s response (42), He gives them a blessing and a warning.  He tells the Jews to trust in His guidance and not be fearful of the king of Babylon.  He also warms people that if they trust the Egyptians, they will meet their demise.  God doesn’t want us to put our ultimate hope or trust in anyone else but him.  Who/what is your “Egypt” in life that you quickly turn to instead of God?
  4. It’s hard to trust in God and only God because of our multiple idols.  Pray for each other that God will grant us stronger faith to rely on Him and Him Only.
