Scripture & Application
1. V. 1-4: Ziba, the servant of Mephibosheth, comes to David with a generous gift. This was a timely gift because David lost his political power and was on the run. When have you shown generosity to those who are struggling? What can we do as a church and individuals to reveal God’s provision and generosity to those around us?
2. V. 5-14: Shimei curses David yet David spares him. This revealed David’s self-control and submission to God. How have you practiced forgiveness even when the offending party seemed unforgivable?
3. V. 15-23: Ahithophel advises Absalom to perform evil deeds (sleeping with his father’s concubines). Just like this, we often receive evil advice to make us fall. What are some unhealthy messages or advice that you hear often? How do you respond to such messages?
